Coast Guard Navik & Yantrik Photo Resizer

Black-slate photo, signature and left thumb impression — resized to the 10–100 KB JPG rule, with a slate checklist so your photo isn't rejected.

Before you upload: check your slate photo

This tool fixes the size and format. It can't fix the photo itself — these points must already be true.

  • You are holding a real black slate in front of your chest — it must be in the photo when it is taken
  • Your NAME and the DATE the photo was taken are written on it in white chalk, in CAPITAL letters
  • The slate text is sharp and readable — not cut off, blurred or covered by your fingers
  • No spectacles, goggles or cap (headgear only for Sikh candidates)
  • Both ears visible, face looking straight at the camera
  • Colour photo on a light background, taken within the last 3 months

No slate at home?Black chart paper (about ₹10) or a small blackboard works. Don't draw a slate on with an app — an edited photo can get your candidature cancelled.

Coast Guard photo & slate — frequently asked questions

What is the Indian Coast Guard Navik photo size?

The official specimen asks for a recent passport-size colour photo as a JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 100 KB, on a light background. This tool outputs 413 × 531 px (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI) inside that range.

What is the black slate rule for the Coast Guard photo?

The photo must be taken with you holding a black slate in front of your chest, with your name and the date of the photograph written on it in white chalk in capital letters. No cap, spectacles or goggles, and both ears must be visible.

Can I add the slate to my photo digitally?

No. The rule says the photo is to be taken with you holding the slate — it proves the photo is recent and really you. A slate drawn on later is a digitally altered photo, and the Coast Guard can cancel your candidature for any discrepancy, including at document verification. Take a new photo with a real slate instead; it takes five minutes.

I don't have a black slate. What can I use?

A child's school slate, a small blackboard, or a sheet of black chart paper (about ₹10 at a stationery shop) works. Write your NAME and the DATE in white chalk in capital letters, large enough to read in a passport-size photo, and hold it at chest level.

What date should I write on the slate?

The date the photo is actually taken, for example 16/10/2026. The photo should not be older than three months before applications opened, so take a fresh one.

What size should the signature and thumb impression be?

Upload clear JPG/JPEG scans between 10 KB and 100 KB. The signature goes on white unruled paper in black or blue ink; the left thumb impression must be clear and not smudged. This tool outputs 400 × 200 px and 300 × 300 px files inside that range.

What is the last date to apply for Coast Guard CGEPT 01/2027 & 02/2027?

Online registration opened on 6 Oct 2026 and closes on 21 Oct 2026, 5:30 PM (IST). Confirm the date and portal on joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in.

Why do Coast Guard photos get rejected?

Missing or unreadable slate, spectacles or a cap, ears hidden, a dark or blurry photo, a coloured background, or a file outside 10–100 KB. The notice says any discrepancy in the clarity of the photograph can lead to cancellation of candidature.

Is ExamPhotoTool an official Coast Guard website?

No. ExamPhotoTool is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the Indian Coast Guard or the Ministry of Defence. Apply only on the official portal.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Every file is processed inside your browser. Your photo, signature and thumb impression never leave your device.

Is this tool free?

Uploading, fixing and previewing is free. Clean full-quality files, plus unlimited resizing for 24 hours, cost ₹5 (slightly more in the last 3 days before the deadline).
